The 30-day confinement meal plan generally focuses on diet and recovery.
Confinement consists of three stages: expel, regulate, and nourish. Divided by week over one month, different foods are consumed each week based on needs:
The first week primarily focuses on expelling excess water, toxins, and lochia from the body. Drink Sheng化汤 (Sheng Hua Tang) daily, and plenty of red date tea. Confinement meals should be salt-free or low-salt, and as bland as possible (salt can retain water in the body). Avoid vinegar (vinegar can soften bones) and soy sauce (same reason as salt).
The second week mainly focuses on strengthening bones and the functions of the waist and kidneys. You can drink fish soup, winter melon soup, vegetable soup, etc. (If it was a C-section, continue drinking Sheng Hua Tang for another week).
From the third week to the end of the month, after expelling toxins, drink nourishing soups so they can be absorbed by the body and ensure sufficient breast milk.

All the above foods can be prepared with ginger, sesame oil, and brown sugar, according to personal constitution and taste.

During confinement, avoid drafts and catching a cold. Wear socks even at home. Dry your hair immediately after showering. Wear an abdominal binder and rest more. Do not eat pickled vegetables, kimchi, miso soup, or any raw and cold foods.
