Description
五指毛桃原名五爪龙，被称为“广东人参”。因其叶子长的像五个手指，果实成熟时像毛桃而得名。五指毛桃以根入药，能益气健脾，祛痰化湿，舒筋活络。在中药里，五指毛桃又叫做南芪，即为南方“黄芪”。
这说明了它既有黄芪的益气健脾的功效，但又没有黄芪温热之性而十分适宜南方气候应用。广东人爱用来和猪骨、鸡等煲汤，取其祛暑化湿之效。
五指毛桃煲鸡汤
老母鸡半只、五指毛桃根60克、瘦肉200克、蜜枣2个、枸杞10克、盐、水
做法：将老母鸡去除内脏，内外彻底清洗干净后，切成大块。瘦肉洗净后，也切成大块。锅中倒入清水，大火加热煮沸后，先放入瘦肉焯烫，撇去浮沫后继续煮3分钟后捞出。再将鸡块放入锅中焯烫3分钟后捞出，用清水冲净表面的浮沫。把五指毛桃冲洗一下后，用清水浸泡10分钟，再洗净表面的杂质。将焯烫好的鸡块和瘦肉放入锅中，加入足量清水，大火煮沸后，再放入蜜枣，枸杞和五指毛桃，盖上盖子，转小火煲煮2小时。食用前加盐调味即可。
